My friend John is a guide at Spey Lodge, in Terrace B.C., and just sent me a few photos i just had to share.
Meet Isabel Murray, who is a 5 year old flyfishergirl from the U.K. Isabel was perched on John’s shoulders and would swing his roll cast and successfully managed to hook, palm and land 3 Pink Salmon. What a beautiful little girl, with such determination on her face. I imagine we will be seeing more of Isabel on the rivers in B.C. in the future.
Jr. Flyfishergirl Fly Casting
Serena Wheaton fly fishing and casting under the direction of her aunt. I have had the pleasure of guiding both Serena’s father and grandfather. Hopefully i get to fish with her one of these days!
It is wonderful to see a child take to the sport of fly fishing, and i often enjoy teaching children more than adults. They possess an air of innocence that is refreshing and enduring.

Meet Jillian from the mid west. She is 8 years old, and has been tying for 18 months. I met her and her family when attending the Indiana On The Fly show recently. It is so fantastic to see jr. flyfishergirls learning the sport of fly fishing and all that it encompasses. Keep up the great work Jillian.

New Junior Flyfishergirl!
Meet Olivia Ramsey, who fishes on the Gallatin river, MT and in Wisconsin with her dad. In this particular picture, she is spotting Rainbows behind the boulders, on the Gallatin river (just inside Yellowstone National Park), for her dad.
More pictures of Olivia can be seen in the Junior Flyfishergirls section. Rumor has it that she is going fishing for Muskies shortly, so we may be able to share some more pics with you soon. Keep up the great work Olivia!
Update – dad wanted me to let people know that it’s not recommended to do this, but he is very practiced at it and is used to having a 6-year-old on his back. They started doing this when she was very young when they would go birding.
