Junior Flyfishergirl

My friend John is a guide at Spey Lodge, in Terrace B.C., and just sent me a few photos i just had to share.
Meet Isabel Murray, who is a 5 year old flyfishergirl from the U.K. Isabel was perched on John’s shoulders and would swing his roll cast and successfully managed to hook, palm and land 3 Pink Salmon. What a beautiful little girl, with such determination on her face. I imagine we will be seeing more of Isabel on the rivers in B.C. in the future.
Jr. Flyfishergirl Fly Casting
Serena Wheaton fly fishing and casting under the direction of her aunt. I have had the pleasure of guiding both Serena’s father and grandfather. Hopefully i get to fish with her one of these days!
It is wonderful to see a child take to the sport of fly fishing, and i often enjoy teaching children more than adults. They possess an air of innocence that is refreshing and enduring.
Jr. Flyfishergirls & Fly Tying

Dan “Rooster” Leavens, of the www.thestoneflyinn.com who is a guide on the Olympic Peninsula, shares with us this picture of his daughter, McCall tying a fly she aptly named the ‘big fish catcher’, while fishing with her proud dad on the Beaverhead River in Montana.
Junior Flyfishergirl In The Making

Most likely the youngest flyfishergirl i have ever seen! Herb Imondi over at SteelHeadQuarters recently shared this picture of his granddaughter. What a darling!

Jr. Flyfishergirls & Fly Tying

Meet Jillian from the mid west. She is 8 years old, and has been tying for 18 months. I met her and her family when attending the Indiana On The Fly show recently. It is so fantastic to see jr. flyfishergirls learning the sport of fly fishing and all that it encompasses. Keep up the great work Jillian.

Pick up a crayon & win some cool swag. The contest will run through the month of November, and around the first part of December a poll will be set up and voting for the top three winners will start.
The three top prize packs are still being put together, but so far the goodies consist of…DVDβs such as Nervous Waters, Soulfish, Rivers of a Lost Coast, The Drift, No Sports Allowed, Once in a Blue Moon, and then other gear from Mountain Khaki, Moffitt Angling, Buff Wear, and Cliff Outdoors.
So parents, itβs time to print off your own book, sharpen the coloring pencils, and let your arty inner Fishy Kid shine through.
Fishy Kid For A Fishy Planet
“Fishy Kid was inspired by two fathers who enjoy the sport of fly fishing and want to do our part in passing along the virtues of the outdoors to our children as well as to families within the online angling community.”
The content on the website is brought to you through a collaboration of Sporting Artists, Writers, Educators, and a growing list of Fly-Fishing manufacturers.
I encourage you to check this site out, and please help spread the word. It is for a great cause!
