Women On The Waters Photo

Lisa Schweitzer with a with a stunning W.A. Steelie.
Today I experienced an epic battle with this beautiful chromer on the O.P. I was using a Sage ONE series 7126 rod and my Ross CLA 6 reel. Caught it on a blue and black leech.
I fought him for over 20 minutes in the current and around a bend. Luckily I steered him around a log jam otherwise I’m sure he would have came off. He jumped 5 times and ran all the way into my backing with the drag set tight as I could without breaking him off. After side pressure and pumping/reeling to gain some line on him, he came back up. Covered in sea lice and full of vigor.
Best steelhead of my life to date.
Thank you steelhead gods!

Washington state law requires that one must not remove wild fish from toe water for a puoito op. learn the rules.
Kirk,
Thanks for reading FFG, however; if you don’t have anything positive to say supporting women in angling, please refrain from posting on this website again.
Yes, it is the law – however; poorly written.
As quoted “How do I think the rule should have been written? “All wild fish to be released must remain out over the water.” A fish captured momentarily out of water is not the problem. On the other hand. Any fish, whether it be a trout or Steelhead, flopping around in the bottom of the boat be for release, is not. Anyone who can’t tell the difference, shouldn’t be fishing.” – Dickson Fly Fishing.
The fish is still in the water… I made sure it was from land to release.Just an FYI. (Also, perhaps you should learn to edit before you write comments? Just a thought…)
Yeah girl!!! I am so proud of you!!! What a beauty of a fish…
xo
Great fish!
Inspiring much jealousy.
Washington law also states that one may not drive faster than 70 mph.
Oops.
Is there such a thing as fish rage?
More like covered in leeches and full of eggs.
Yes, kj, apparently there is. I don’t comment negatively on other people’s photos, but I guess it is bound to happen at some point. I try and keep fly-fishing a positive aspect of my life. That’s all I can do to keep my passion for it.
Also, “he” was a “she”. My mistake.
Looks like you’re doing a great job of it Lisa!
I look forward to the day when we can all support one another in this dance without negativity. Gorgeous fish, great shot, and well done!
I agree! Thankfully there are not too many out there that think negatively, however; now and then one will pop up. Thankfully, it just teaches us patience! And, lord knows we need patience when fly fishing.
Kudos to all the lady anglers out there!
Thanks ladies!
WOW! One day I hope to be in your shoes! I’m just starting out on my fly fishing adventure (I’ve never fly fished). Reading, watching video, taking in free lectures, etc. Now I really can’t wait to get started!
