Hello,
Just joined today, and I'm hoping to learn a few things about flyfishing from you all. I've been doing it for about a year, and find it to be a wonderful stress-reliever. My boyfriend/fishing partner and I spend time in the Driftless Area of Wisconsin occasionally, flyfishing and exploring. Although he is a great teacher, it has been so nice to read the posts on this site about fishing from a woman's perspective. I also look around at other flyfishing forums, but they tend to be very macho. I can deal with that, but this site is a bit more up my alley. :)

Thank you!

Hey FishingQueen, greetings!

Thanks for joining our forum and for your kind words about the site. We are glad to have you on board, and look forward to hearing about your fly fishing adventures and sharing ours with you as well.

We are a diverse group of ladies here, doing all sorts of fly fishing in many different places, for various species. There are some boys who are members as well, but they play nice with us all (not to mention provide a healthy balance). ;)

Once again, welcome. :D

My dad started me out fly fishing way early with my three older brothers. I hated it at first! I've guided with him now for the last fourteen years in NM ad CO, and in recent years have begun to row a drift boat in NW Montana. I live and breathe this sport; it has become far more than just a way of life, or a job. In my neck of the woods, women anglers are a rare creature, women guides more so. I've been on a forced hiatus from guiding due to an old knee injury for the past week, and I stumbled upon this site. I enjoyed all of your blogs and sites very much, loved living vicariously through you all while abed and unable to get out there myself. I had no idea there were so many like minded ladies out there!

Hey riorose (love that name btw), welcome! :D

Glad to have another like minded lady angler/guide here to chat with. Sounds like you have all sorts of experience that we are going to like hearing about.

Sorry to hear about your knee. Talk to fflutterfly (guide in Cali), she just went through two knee operations ( :( ) and can identify i am sure...

Please get well and continue to share with us your stories of angling from a lady's perspective, and we will do same. Don't forget to post pics for us to see!!! ;)

Best, ffg.

I joined because I keep hearing about it from a girlfriend here in Oregon and finally checked it out.
And for all the great reasons that others have already posted!

I never really spend time on Forums - but in one fell swoop here I saw the incredible cabin building post (holy shit - i want to help!!), learned about Hobo spiders (eeek!) and stumbled up what seems to be an awesome group of fishing girls.
I look forward to getting to know you all better!

Well, do i ever feel like a heel. NO pun intended. Fflutter, slap me if you get the chance. :?

Had a bunch of useless info here, re-read my post and decided that my sentence did not even really make sense and was not funny, so deleting it and adding this. Not very helpful, i know but i wanted to explain why it is gone now.

Excuse me, Fflutter...my apologies.

Sincerely intended.

:)

3 Achilles - What is up? One malfunctioned? Was in error?

Dorothy - welcome!

I think i know who our common friend is...

:)

Super glad to have you on board.

In one fell swoop- avoid hobo spiders, and anytime you want to come and help us build a cabin (the holy S**t comment made me laugh hard), let me know...as you are totally invited, 'cept M has to come too, ok?

:)

Like stated, i am very happy to have you as one of our members, and very much appreciate you joining, and i/we look forward to future posts.

Best, ffg.

I joined this forum because I am new to this sport and like to network and make friends and learn. I am a musician (classical vionlin) and the similarities between flyfishing and playing the violin are awesome. I love the outdoors and having a creative outlet that I can do outdoors has been awesome for me. I have so much to learn so it is my hope that reading and joining this forum will help me learn and grow in this amazing sport.
