Sorry for the late notice, but if there's anyone out there who likes to fish for steelhead in Washington or anyone who is generally opposed to killing wild steelhead, we could use your help.
The state fish and wildlife department is taking public comment, but only up to July 23 (this Friday). As it is now, the state still allows people to kill and keep one wild steelhead a year in some of the rivers on the Olympic Peninsula, even though the numbers of wild steelhead are still declining in these rivers. If you have a couple of minutes, please send them your input at: strategic@dfw.wa.gov. Hopefully if enough of us let them know these wild fish should not be killed, period, they will change this policy.
