Beautiful fish. Way to go, Nancy! Hope you and Dave get many more during your time up north.

Got this bad boy a couple of days ago. Kicked my a** and worked me hard. I was pretty sore at the end of non stop runs into the backing and dealing with palming a bougle at the same time. But, it was so worth it! ;)

Who needs a gym membership when you have steelheads! ( good name for a gym. STEELHEADS! ) Embarrassing when I post my little fish that are the size of a dingy and your holding an aircraft carrier! Love the shots and all the happy faces. MOREf!

The colors are so distinct. What a gift to be holding such a beautiful fish. Proof positive that your lodge is top notch.

fflutterffly - we all know it is not the size that counts! All fish are equal, some just bigger than others. My favorite fish are about 14 lbs, as they are a much more fun fight (generally) than the big hawg's.

Darth - yes, get well soon so that we can hit the waters together. I will swing a line for you here in the next bit, and hopefully get one for you!

I just got back from my fall trip for Erie Steelhead and I had a great time! What is so amazing to me is that each time I go the experience is different depending on weather, water conditions and everything else that effects steelhead fishing. Timing is everything and when you don't have the luxury of living where steelhead are available you learn to adapt and fish in different conditions.
In this case, water was low and clear and fish were in the system but not so eager to take a fly unless you spoon fed them.
After I post my grip and grin shot I have a question to pose to all of you steelheaders to try and get some feedback. Most everyone is eager to talk about the fish we land but not so open to discuss the fish we lose and talk about why we fail when steelheading.
I guess I'm looking for more of a reason than" It just came unbottoned!"
What makes a fish come off??? Can a good hookset still result in a lost fish? Does hook size matter?
Does tippet size matter?
This fish was caught using a very small hook with micro egg and 6lb. tippet. Should you expect greater loss ratio when using this light of a rig?
Let's hear it from the steelhead diehards!

Hey, what a pretty fish! In order to keep the gallery somewhat free of conversations (as then it won't really be a 'gallery'), i have quoted your post into what i think is an appropriate topic located at viewtopic.php?f=11&t=419&p=2972#p2972, where we can further discuss your questions, etc. :)
